After its successful 2009-2010 production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Director Idalmy M. Sanchez brings another musical interpretation on a childhood literary favorite. The play marvels in the travels of Stuart, a mouse, adopted by a New York City family, who embarks on a journey to find his friend Margalo (a bird scared away by the family cat). The mild-mannered mouse braves adventure and misfortune to find his friend – and more importantly himself. The story is a charming tale of friendship and acceptance.
Over 100 students from 2nd-5th grade auditioned to take part in this year’s On Stage Group. Mrs. Sanchez reflects on her drive to facilitate this group “through encouragement, offering the student an opportunity to develop their creative talent, self esteem and teamwork through real life onstage experiences”. The effort from Embassy Creek’s PTA, teachers, and local community all comes together to make a difference in a child’s future.
The play is directed by Idalmy M. Sanchez, under the musical direction of Dina Becker and choreography by Kelly Bensen.
The performances will take place at Western High School’s Theater 1200 Southwest 136th Avenue in Davie on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 1st at 6:00 pm.
