Discounted Heat Tickets Benefit ‘Partners In Education’

Partners In Education, Inc. (PIE), Broward County Public Schools business-education partnership program, is collaborating with the Miami HEAT for a new fundraiser. Broward Schools Family Nights will give ticket holders one of the only remaining opportunities this year to see the “Dream Team” at play.

The HEAT is offering reduced priced tickets to the following pre-season games. For every ticket purchased using the special code, “Broward Schools”, Partners In Education will receive $10.

HEAT tickets are available for the following dates:
10-12 vs. CSKA Moscow @ 7:30 p.m.
10-18 vs. Charlotte Bobcats @ 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to support PIE’s Targeted Recruitment Program. With only one full-time staff person, PIE is now contracting with a retired principal to concentrate recruitment efforts on schools specifically designated by the Area Superintendents, as well as schools designated as Intervene Schools. In the three years that PIE has had this program, more than 15 partnerships have been established with 11 targeted schools.

“The Targeted Recruitment Program has been so successful at bringing community involvement to the schools that need it the most, that the PIE Board of Directors made expanding the program a priority this year,” said Jamie Manburg PIE President. “New fundraisers, such as Broward Schools Family Nights, will be run throughout the year specifically to expand this important effort.”

At the close of the 2009/10 school year, there were more than 2,700 active partnerships in Browardís public schools. With 72% of schools reporting, the value of these partnerships exceeded $4.22 million in cash and in-kind contributions, including the value of volunteer time.

To purchase tickets, log on to and enter “Broward Schools” as the Special Pass Code.
