One hundred thirty-six pre-school through adult education students with disabilities will be honored for their accomplishments at an awards event in their honor on October 15, 2010, 9 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club Room at McFatter Technical Center, 6596 Nova Drive in Davie. The event will be attended by the studentsí families, school staff and special guest, Broward County Public Schools Superintendent James F. Notter.
The event is the culminating activity of the annual “Just Do It…I Did” campaign which celebrates the exemplary achievements of students with disabilities. Created in 1999, the campaign is held in conjunction with a National Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Awareness Campaign and the Disability History and Awareness Weeks. ESE students are nominated by their schools to be recognized for their achievements.
Five students will be recognized during the event. They include: Nevaeh Hutchinson, Early Beginnings Preschool/United Cerebral Palsy Center; Amber Asad, Horizon Elementary School; Raekwon Morgan, Cross Creek School; Rochelle Watson, Flanagan High School and Jennifer Myrie, Wingate Oaks Center.
